  • Nepalese woman mountaineer Chhurim Sherpa was confirmed on 25 February 2013 as the first woman to scale Mount Everest twice in a single season. According to Guinness World Records, the 29-year-old Chhurim scaled the 8850-metre summit on May 12, 2012, and again a week later on May 19.

  • Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed an enhanced bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) on 16 April 2013 to increase the existing 28 flights a week to 70 between the countries to meet the growing demand of air travelers.   • Lhakpa Sherpa, a Nepalese Sherpa mountain climber, on 16 May 2018 climbed Mount Everest for the ninth time, the most by any woman in the world.
  • Nawang Sherpa of Nepal became the first person to climb Mount Everest using a prosthetic leg when he reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 16, 2004.[10]

  • Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and India on 15 June 2015 signed a landmark Motor Vehicles Agreement in Thimpu for seamless movement of road traffic among Four SAARC Countries.   • Tiger populations in five countries, including Nepal, are making a comeback, according to WWF Tigers Alive Initiative report published on 28 July 2020.[17]
  • The Gadhimai Temple Trust in Nepal on 28 July 2015 announced to end the world's largest animal sacrifice event at the the Gadhimai festival that is held every 5 years. Hundreds of thousands of water buffalo, goats, chickens and other animals will now be saved from a brutal death by bludgeoning or decapitation.

  • The number of Royal Bengal tigers living in Nepal has increased approximately by 63% to 198 since 2009, according to an official figure released on 29 July 2013. Experts attributed this sharp rise in the number of tigers in the wilds of Nepal to a crackdown on poaching and a government pledge to double their numbers.[18]

  • Scientists from Nepal and their international colleagues have recognized a particular form of the HLA-DRB1 gene that may provide better protection against typhoid fever, which infects millions of people each year.
