  • Aapravasi Ghat, a building complex and immigration depot for laborers to be transported throughout the British Empire from 1849 to 1923 located in Port Louis-Mauritius, was listed in the UNESCO world heritage list in 2006. The buildings of Aapravasi Ghat are among the earliest explicit manifestations of what was to become a global economic system and one of the greatest migrations in history.[4]
