  • The Leon Cathedral in Nicaragua was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Dating back to 1747 and designed by Guatamalan architect Diego Jose de Porres Esquivel it is an eclectic mix of Barogue and neoclassical architecture with an abundance of natural light, richly ornamented vaults, a Flemish altarpiece and paintings by influential Nicaraguan artist Antonio Sarria.
