  • After a 29-year military presence, Syria completed withdrawal of its troops, military assets and intelligence apparatus from Lebanon on April 26, 2005. Syria sent soldiers into Lebanon as part of an Arab peace-keeping force in 1976 after civil war broke out between Muslims and Christians in Lebanon.[6]
