  • The Kyrgyz government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 17 January 2014 signed a financing agreement for the implementation of the reconstruction of a section of the road between the capital Bishkek and the southern city of Osh that will strengthen national and regional connectivity and promote inclusive growth. The overall cost of the project for ADB is $100 million, of which $35 million is a grant and $65 million is a loan.

  • Kyrgyzstan won the 2011 Asian Winter Games Premier Division Ice hockey event with a dominant performance from the start. With six wins in six games Kyrgyzstan scored 18 points while Thailand achieved 15 points for the second position. The event was held in Astana in Kazakhstan from 28 January to 6 February, 2011.

  • The World Bank and the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic on 7 March 2014 signed an agreement for the US$ 2.8 million grant from the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) to increase agricultural productivity through support for the expansion of the community seed fund system in the Kyrgyz Republic.[1]

  • A project to establish the sustainable management of the Chon-Aksuu River watershed in Kyrgyzstan won the 9th Swiss Re International ReSource Award 2011 for its initiatives to implement a sustainable mechanism for the entire watershed. The award was handed over at Swiss Re’s headquarters in Zurich on March 26, 2010.

  • The World Bank on 27 March 2015 approved US$12 million for the Third Village Investment Project in the Kyrgyz Republic aimed at building the capacity of local self- governments to work with their communities to plan and implement local development programs.[4]
